Chelsea took an early lead against Everton in their Premier League clash, with Cole Palmer netting the opening goal in the first half.
The young midfielder latched onto a through ball from Mason Mount and slotted home past Jordan Pickford in the Everton goal. The goal was Palmer's first for Chelsea since his move from Manchester City in the summer.
Everton had a chance to equalize shortly after, but Demarai Gray's shot from the edge of the box was saved by Kepa Arrizabalaga. Chelsea continued to press for a second goal, but they were unable to find a way past a resolute Everton defense.
The second half saw Everton come out with more purpose, and they had a number of chances to get back into the game. However, they were unable to find a way past Kepa, who made a number of excellent saves.
Chelsea held on to their lead to secure a valuable three points, which moved them up to third in the Premier League table. Everton, meanwhile, remain in 16th place, just three points above the relegation zone.
