Keir Starmer was one of four children raised in the town of Oxted on the Kent-Surrey border. His father was a toolmaker, and his mother worked as a nurse. For the first time ever, 10 Downing Street, the official residence of the United Kingdom's prime minister, will be home to a practicing Jewish family.

Marriage and Children

Keir Starmer is married to Victoria Starmer, who originally hails from north London. She attended Channing School and later pursued a career in law. The couple married in 2007, and they live in Starmer's constituency in Kentish Town, North West London. They have two teenage children—a 16-year-old son and a younger child.
